Pickle FAQs for Emergency Locksmiths

The speed of the call out will vary, but Pickle’s state of the art app will show you just how far away we are to the pickle you’re in. You will be able to select and see who is nearest to the situation and keep a track on just how far away the tradesperson is from your pickle, with timelines,  giving you peace of mind in a testing time.

Call out charges will vary but be fixed and displayed clearly on the Pickle App. This ensures that there are no more nasty surprises. So you are in control, whatever the pickle you find yourself in.

Our skilled partners will do everything they can to minimise the disruption. In most cases we can save the locks, but in extreme circumstances we might have to replace them. Much of the work that is done is covered by insurance companies and this is something we highly recommend for those troublesome situations to keep control of costs. If, for whatever reason, you are not insured we will help you secure the premises and arrange for suitable lock replacements. 

If you need replacement locks in the event of an emergency, we will keep you involved in the costing process. Obviously, you will have to sign off the costs, but in an emergency our priority is to make your home secure. Your safety comes first. Once we have dealt with the initial pickle we can recommend or refer a proposed, longer term fix.

In most cases we will supply two keys, but you can also get additional keys through any high street supplier. We wouldn’t recommend too many as losing one makes your property more vulnerable. One of the ways to mitigate loss is to have a digital tracker on the keyring, so if for any reason they were left behind, you can track and replace if needed.

All work performed is guaranteed by our suppliers and you will have their contact details to deal directly with them. We make sure all our partners are of the highest quality and regularly keep an eye on reviews to ensure the standards of Pickle are upheld.

Your costs are fixed for the call out and if anything needs replacing then you will have to sign off.  Pickle’s partners are committed to providing the best solution for the moment and their priority is your security. If you need full locks replacing immediately, the price will be set by the supplier on the day, with you having to approve them. You will be given receipts for any work undertaken, allowing you to claim back through your home or landlord insurance policies.

There are many reasons to call an electrician in an emergency and, while we are not going to list every eventuality, the main reason to contact us is that your home or residence is under threat and not doing anything about it will cause lasting damage. If things can’t be solved using a local service during the day then, as an emergency only service, we would recommend the Pickle App as a solution.

Pickle, as a general rule, exist for emergency situations. As electrics can be life threatening we would consider anything with exposed wires or sparks as priority and recommend that you don’t look to do anything that you don’t have training in. General common sense should prevail. If you can sleep on it and deal with a local solution the next day, then of course that wouldn’t be considered an emergency. If, you can’t sleep on it and the home is at threat as a result of fire or short with threat of sparks, for example, then contact us.

With outdoor installations that affect the home and could cause damage to the property we would advise calling us out. Use the ‘can you sleep on it’ rule. Most cases can be sorted with a non emergency solution when it comes to outdoor installations, but if you can’t sleep on it, call Pickle.

Pickle will always prefer people that trade to the highest of standards and ensure that the right certification is in place. It is the responsibility of each tradesperson to stay up to date with the right certification and not doing so would be in violation of Pickle’s ethics and values.
